Cattle AND GRAIN
Our Operation
Namaka Farms takes an innovative approach to all aspects of livestock-handling and crop-production, often collaborating with research teams from the Universities of Calgary, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, in addition to innovators in private agricultural organizations. Namaka Farms is proud of our dedicated crew members, as well as the many truckers, veterinarians, and other ancillary businesses we have the privilege of working alongside to achieve the utmost in crop production and animal husbandry.
Cattle & Livestock
Namaka Farms has both heifers and steers, with a capacity of 28,000 cattle in Alberta, and an anticipated capacity of 36,000 cattle in Saskatchewan. As we designed our infrastructure for cattle-handling, our operation incorporated ideas from Temple Grandin's system of herding animals into a cattle-squeeze. This system plays off the natural instincts of cattle to both follow one another, and to travel in circular patterns, thus ensuring cattle remain calm while being processed.
Cattle Sellers
Cattle Buyers: Majority of our cattle are purchased through buyers in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and British Columbia.

Grain Opertation
Between our Alberta and Saskatchewan locations, our grain operation comprises nearly 21,000 acres of cultivated land, primarily consisting of wheat, barley, canola, and lentils which we rotate on a yearly basis to prevent mineral depletion in the soil. Namaka upcycles our cattle manure into crop fertilizer and compost - simultaneously reducing our environmental waste and replenishing the nutrients in our soil.
